Lisa
Machoian, Ed.M., Ed.D., author of The Disappearing Girl, Learning
the Language of Teenage Depression, is a national expert on
teenagers and their mental health, with a special emphasis
on teenage girls. Dr. Machoian was on the faculty of Harvard
University, Graduate School of Education and also directed
the Gender Studies Program at Harvard. Dr. Machoian is a psychotherapist,
consultant, educator, and life skills coach for teens, and
works with parents for parent guidance and parenting coaching.
She lectures, consults, and conducts workshops for schools,
parents, and families across the nation. Her areas of expertise
include girls and boys psychosocial development, self-esteem,
depression, issues facing teenage girls, gender, trauma, eating
disorders, and learning disabilities. Her private consultation
practices are in Wellesley, Massachusetts and Palm Beach County,
Florida. She is available for phone consultation and travels
for in-person consultation at families or schools' request.
She has a masters and doctorate from Harvard University.
